This is a lessons learned from Mr. Khayyam who is a regular visitor to this blog and has passed the PMI-RMP certification exam.

This was when I stumbled upon Fahad Usmani’s blog post “I Passed My PMI-RMP Exam,”法哈德(Fahad)详细介绍了获得PMI-RMP认证的旅程。这很彻底,但他甚至花了一些时间记录他在准备期间学到的课程。
I got my30 contact hoursfrom Syscomp, and Mr. Suhail Iqbal was the trainer.
I used the materials he recommended, i.e. Practice Standard for Risk Management, Rita’s book (now that was a tough one to find; some people told me it’s obsolete and you won’t find it, but I did, tucked away in an Amazon warehouse in Texas), and the PMBOK Guide.
至于模拟器,我使用了Fahad的PMI-RMP Question BankandPMI-RMP模拟测试before the final exam. I used PM Fastrack as well for the risk domain, but that was generic.
Once I became more comfortable with the preparation, I needed a resource for the exam questions. I tried a few online question banks, but they were not high quality. Once again, Fahad came to the rescue, and I bought his question bank. The questions were excellent, they tested me in every domain and had very good explanations of the answers. Fahad has put a lot of work into getting these together.
I took around two-and-a-half months to prepare for the PMI-RMP Exam. Once I felt confident, I applied for the exam and reached the center on time. The questions were longer than I expected, and some were tough, but overall I found it easy. I finished in two hours, and then I took a break.
After the break, I submitted the answers, and I passed. I got “Above Target” in all domains.
My suggestion to anyone looking to achieve their PMI-RMP certification is to follow the practice standard. It is not too much to go through cover to cover at least four times and then look for other material, be it Rita’s, Head Start’s, or Mr. Kuwaiti’s book. If you have a PMP certification, revise all knowledge areas in the last couple of weeks. Be consistent when you dedicate time for preparation, this will be more manageable.

Another good thing about his questions is that they help you to understand multiple scenarios which you can be expected on exam day.

1)Do we need to study thourougly other knowledge areas like, Communications, Stakeholder, Procurement, Quality management also? Or just we need to go through these knowledge areas and have an idea for the major items? (For example In stakeholder -salience model, stakeholder cube, for communication -types and methods of communication, like that ). Kindly share you’re experience
Thanks Vinay for a very particular question which really concerned me a lot while preparing for RMP. What I did that kept my primary focus on the risk area, however, studied other important areas like integration, communication, stakeholder and procurement etc from PMBoK. You need to develop these areas’ linkages with Risk Management. Refreshing your PMP preparation questions of these areas using RMC cloud or Fast Track will enable you to handle related questions in exam. I hope these tips would assist you in your path to success.

Hii, Mr.Fahad,Is the PMI-RMP exam changed? Which edition we need to Refer , PMBOK 5th or 6th Edition on 2020?Since one more process introduced in 6th edition “Implement Risk response” and rest is more or less theoretically same. kindly help me .
2)Also which other knowledge areas we need to study thoroughly?
Hello Vinay, it is still based on the fifth edition of the PMBOK Guide. Read the complete PMBOK Guide with more focus on risk-related issues.
Thank you Mr. Fahad. I passed the exam on 29/06/2020. I purchased your 170 questions and it was very helpful. In between I checked with PMI through customer care to check whether PMBOK 5 or 6th edition to be referred, they informed me to use 6th edition. Thank you very much for the question bank anf valuable advice

HI Fahad, Who heads the project management office when all portfolio, program and project managers exist in an organization? Should PMO be placed at the protfolio level? Project board is a committee one level higher than PMO, right? PMO acts the secretary of PMO, right? Project board includes the CEO as its head, right? Change control board reports to project board and thus independently exists by itself? Project board exist independently of Board of Directors (BOD)? Please clarify. TQ

It totally depends on organizational structure. There is no fixed setup and every organization has to chose the hierarchy based on its own requirements.

I would recommend you read the first, second and third chapters of the PMBOK Guide 6th editions. I hope you will get answers to your questions. If anything not clear even after reading these chapters, please write back to me again here, I will reply you.
